No extra life until points. Tips: NEVER take a diagonal shot unless it's the first screen where the robots don't shoot or you're at least a quarter of the screen's distance away from your target.
Otherwise, you'll get shot by your target as you shoot your target. Remember, you can't move while shooting! A robot will never move into your diagonal line of fire if you can "paint the wall" with your shot put the wall between you and the robot, then fire before the line of fire clears for the robot.
A robot WILL let you "paint the wall" horizontally or vertically, but only as close to the wall as possible. Also stay out of the robots' diagonal lines of fire.
The only way to avoid a diagonal shot fast enough is to dodge with a tricky diagonal move. Better to never let them get off the diagonal shot in the first place.
Hope this helps! Reviewer: tcountry - favorite favorite favorite favorite - August 27, Subject: Good emulation but I loved playing this at the arcade and was excited to play it on the computer.

As a player's score increases, the colors of the enemy robots change, and the robots can have more bullets on the screen at the same time. Once they reach the limit of simultaneous on-screen bullets, they cannot fire again until one or more of their bullets detonates; the limit applies to the robots as a group, not as individuals.
A free life can be awarded at 5, or 10, points, set by internal DIP switches , with no extra lives thereafter. There is random robot chatter playing in the background, with phrases usually consisting of "Charge", "Attack", "Kill", "Destroy", "Shoot", or "Get", followed by "The Humanoid", "The intruder", "it", or "the chicken" the last only if the player got the "Chicken, fight like a robot" message from the previous room , creating sentences such as "Attack it", "Get the Humanoid", "Destroy the intruder", "Kill the chicken", and so on.

It was named for Fred Saberhagen 's Berserker series of science fiction novels. According to McNeil, Otto would, "[smile] while he chewed you out.
The idea for a black-and-white game was abandoned. At that point Stern decided to use a color overlay board for Berzerk.
The game was test-marketed successfully at a Chicago singles bar before general release. The game was originally planned around a Motorola E processor, but problems with the external clock for this CPU led to its abandonment in favor of a Zilog Z The game units suffered from failure of the optical 8-way joystick unit; Stern suffered the cancellation of about 4, orders for new games because of previous purchasers' bad experiences with these joysticks.

Works great on my NES. I want to know if this can be made to work on the imbNES v1. Would love to use the arcade sticks in tandem 2 player mode.
I don't know anything about this emulator. If the original version doesn't work, your best shot is try the NES Mini version. Thank you. Kinda like Inception Robots fire lasers instantly when they are spawned, unlike the arcade version where they didn't move or shoot for about 0.
Also the controls are not as good as the original especially when shooting. Unlike the arcade version you can't quickly move after releasing the fire button, and there's a small input lag when changing the direction to fire.
